    About Lyricism 101

    Past-Present

In 2018, the Boys & Girls Clubs introduced their Lyricism 101 Program which is designed to cultivate and amplify the powerful voices of teens, giving them an opportunity to tell their stories, build community, and express their artistic visions through music expression. The program started in 2018 and grew to serve over 50 active teens as they wrote, recorded, and produced over 150 songs in 3 months. Youth participated in video production workshops, live performance field trips and music video productions.

To expand the workspace the Club responded to this need by building a new recording room. An upgraded recording studio allowed the Club to have the capacity to serve teens from both Albany and Rensselaer County. In October 2019, David Gordon, a local music teacher/audio engineer was brought in to coordinate the program. He has been assisting with getting the recording studio up and running. Gordon also reached out to“Mess and a Finesse LLC” in Boston, MA and successfully  received a donation of a professional desk by "Arogsy". We look forward to continued support of this program from the community we serve.
